Whats up, doc?

Whats up, doc?

PARENTS it is time to wake up! Being good parents is more than just being informed. It is making proper decisions and taking action on them.

The recent outbreaks of measles and whooping cough tell us vaccines are needed to control serious illness in our children. Keep in mind, whooping cough is not just an annoying cough. It can lead to many days in a hospital for your child or, worse yet, can develop into a respiratory death. Measles is not just a rash. It can lead to brain inflammation (encephalitis) and, in severe cases, can progress to brain impairment and/or death.

Those of us of a certain age can remember the unsparing outbreak of polio.

It left many people with limb weakness and some children with death due to respiratory failure. How was polio controlled? The Salk vaccine.

Small pox was a worldwide killer before the vaccine was developed which irradicated the disease from the planet.

Please listen to the informed pediatricians of the world instead of the non-medical advisors who declare vaccines to be dangerous. Think about the millions of children who have been saved from death and permanent disability due to vaccines.

Should we do research that will give us better vaccines?

Of course we should, but in the meantime let us not cease vaccinating our vulnerable children from needless suffering.

Refusing to vaccinate your child is the classic move of “throwing the baby out with the bath water”. This attitude is child abuse, and no parent wants to be accused of that.
